Trees on the way, widening of Delhi-Noida link road hits a hurdle
The Noida Authority's plan to widen a 5km stretch on the Delhi-Noida link road from the Chilla border has hit a hurdle due to the need to remove hundreds of trees. Expanding the congested road without providing an alternative route for the three to four lakh vehicles that use the stretch regularly is also a challenge. The expansion plan is dependent on the construction of the Chilla elevated road, which has been delayed. The proposal to widen the road involves reducing the width of the central verge and obtaining environmental clearances. Two other proposals include merging sidewalks with the road and widening specific patches.
