Ludhiana: DRI arrests businessman for misusing advance licence scheme to evade Rs. 16.17 crore customs duty
Under its modus operandi, the company imported duty-free crystalline sugar under the pretext of exporting it after processing it as Glucose in India but instead sold this duty-free crystalline sugar within India. In the entire scam is alleged to have imported 5,200 tons of Crystalline Sugar and evaded customs duty of about Rs. 16.17 crore.
