LIP’s youth wing prez joins BJP
Sunny Kainth, a 34-year-old Sikh youth leader from Ludhiana, resigned from the Indian National Lok Insaf Party (INLIP) on Tuesday and announced his affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). INLIP is the youth wing of the Indian National Congress (INC), the country's largest political party. Kainth had contested the Punjab state Assembly elections in 2022 as a INLIP candidate from the Gill constituency, but he lost. Kainth claimed that he left the INLIP because he believed the party was working for the "betterment" of Sikhs and Dalits (a marginalized community in India). He added that the central government was providing a lot of funds to Punjab, and was also working for the nation as a whole. Kainth also indicated that he left the INLIP because he felt inactive within the party.
