Gadvasu gets new centre for fisheries
A capacitybuilding resource center for intensive aquaculture technologies was inaugurated at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. The center was built with a budget of Rs. 139 lakh under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and the Department's joint secretary, Sagar Mehra, was present. The center will serve as a prospective resource for demonstration capacitybuilding and innovative research for upscaling intensive aquaculture technologies like recirculatory and bioflocbased systems as per regional needs and climate. The university informed that Gadvasu was the first university to receive 100 funding for the said project under PMMSY. The Union scheme was being visualized as a catalyst to boost blue revolution in the region. Swain congratulated the university on establishing the center successfully and said that aspiring entrepreneurs of the region looking forward to adopting new and advanced technologies would be benefited with the facility as it would offer them handson training and incubation opportunities.
