‘Forged’ UDIDs causing concernThe volunteers aired the issue of fake unique disability identification cards in a grievance meeting chaired by deputy commissioner k.v. Rajendra at zilla panchayat auditorium. The volunteers allege that many people have obtained cards after claiming they have 75 hearing loss disability, when in reality, there are very few people with that disability. They also allege that several people at the local hospital are involved in the scam, selling fake certificates. The deputy commissioner took the issue seriously and said that if any lapses were found, then he would initiate action against the officials. He also directed the officials to conduct the meeting of the doctors who issue disability certificates. This will help to prevent the disabled from traveling to the district headquarters, which would help to prevent them from being exploited.
