Boom barriers, free pavements to make Behala safe for pedestrians
The traffic police will deploy personnel at Behala Chowrasta from 6am on Monday - the first working day after an accident on Friday where an eight-year-old boy was run over by a truck - to ensure safety of pedestrians. On Sunday evening, a team from KMC and Kolkata Police razed at least a dozen semi-permanent structures us-ed by hawkers in the area. The entire stretch of the pavement from Vivekananda College for Women to Biren Roy Road East has now been freed up.
