5 victims collectively lose Rs 33 lakh to online task frauds - Maharashtra
In Pune, five people, including four women and a man, collectively lost Rs 32.6 lakh in separate online task frauds. The victims were contacted by phone for part-time jobs, which involved completing online tasks such as liking videos on a platform. Initially, they received money but were later asked to transfer money for prepaid tasks. Three victims from Chakan lost Rs 16.70 lakh, while a victim from Wakad lost Rs 7.87 lakh. Another victim from Dhankawadi also fell prey to the fraud. The Sahakarnagar police reported a case where a man lost Rs 8.03 lakh by performing online tasks. Recently, victims of online fraud in Mumbai and Prayagraj were able to recover their money.
