Woman delivers rare 4kg baby girlA 24-year-old woman in India gave birth to a baby girl weighing 4kg, which is a rare case for an Indian baby's weight to be more than normal. Normally, a normal baby's weight is around 25 to 35kg during birth. The hospital authorities said that it was the patient's first pregnancy and she was healthy throughout the pregnancy. Later, she showed spontaneous onset of labor pain in her ninth month of pregnancy, and was assisted with the necessary care and treatment on delivering the baby girl. A team of neonatologists and paediatricians monitored her to ensure stability and good health. The hospital said that dr. Shweta Nayak, obstetrician and gynaecologist, said that it is one of the rare cases where an overweight baby was born to a nondiabetic mother. Dr. Chetan B, consultant neonatologist, informed that generally, having large babies is a family trait. "These babies sometimes incur birth injuries as delivering them is a challenge but our obstetrics team did a good job by delivering the baby safely," he said. The mother and the baby were discharged on the third day after the delivery.
