WB Univ Laws (Amendment) Bill '22 passed in House
The assembly on Monday passed the West Bengal University Laws (Amendment) Bill 2022, removing the governor from the chancellorship of state universities and replacing him with the CM. A total of 167 MLAs voted in favour of the bill and 55 against it. The cabinet had passed a resolution on May 26 to make the CM the chancellor of the 31 state-run universities, reports Krishnendu Bandyopadhyay.
