WB: 19 Covid +ve from 11k samples in 2nd sentinel survey
The second Covid 'sentinel survey' in Bengal, conducted between May 18 and 20 on 10,975 samples, has thrown up a positivity of 0.17%, with just 19 positives, a shade lower than that of the first survey, which had been 0.18%. In Kolkata, RG Kar tested 235 random samples, all of which tested negative. The nearest-to-Kolkata positive was detected from Howrah district hospital. Three samples each - the highest of all - tested positive at Nandigram and Basirhat hospitals. In 16 Bengal health districts, not a single sample tested positive. The samples had all been collected from asymptomatic patients who had turned up in hospitals for other treatments.
