Total ban on plastic carry bags to continue
Besides carry bags, Maharashtra has also banned single use plastic material such as small cans, spoons, plates etc. since 2018 itself. However, the fact is, say activists and officials, the stricter implementation of these rules took the backstage since the inception of Covid. Mumbai is still generating 40-50% of the total plastic garbage that existed prior to 2018 ban.
