Tight security arrangements for Republic Day celebrations
In Kanpur, India, officials have made arrangements for security in light of Republic Day celebrations. The police commissioner, BP Jogdand, said that besides the police, several companies of PAC (paramilitary) have been deployed. Additionally, the bomb disposal squad, antisabotage check teams, and sniffer dog team have been deployed. Joint Police Commissioner Anand Prakash Tiwari said that the police are keeping a strict vigil on important places, like religious spots, railway stations, bus stops, airport, government buildings, multiplexes, defence establishments, district jail, malls, and contractors of various parking lots. Hotel dharamshalas and guest owners were asked to verify credentials of their customers, especially those staying for the past two or three days, or arriving on Wednesday.
