Teacher recruitment delayed as Karnataka HC postpones hearing
The Dakshina Kannada district administration has been delaying the recruitment process for 575 permanent teachers to schools in the district because 25 candidates have filed a petition with the Karnataka High Court raising concerns about income certificate issues. The hearing was scheduled this month, but has been pushed to further dates, and the entire process has been delayed. The candidates provided income certificates for their fathers rather than their husbands according to a 1986 government rule, and the department had written to the higher authorities that the recruitment process cannot be taken forward since candidates have furnished invalid certificates as a result of this. The candidates moved to court questioning the government's rules, and the court has postponed the hearing until further dates.
