Sub-inspector manhandled, held hostage by complainant’s familyA subinspector was held hostage and manhandled by a family in a village in Kanpur on Sunday evening. The incident occurred when the subinspector along with a constable went to collect a copy of an Aadhaar card from the complainant who had earlier lodged an FIR accusing a village youth of kidnapping his daughter. The family however alleged that the subinspector forcibly caught a woman of the family and molested her. The video of the incident had also gone viral in which the si could be seen holding a woman. On the other hand, the police claimed that the si had gone to collect a copy of the Aadhaar card from the complainant but the latter and his other family members caught hold of him and locked him inside one of the rooms of their house demanding him to first recover the girl. The police claimed that one woman of the family also tried to tear the si’s clothes and while trying to stop her from doing so the si caught hold of her. After the video went viral, the CP, B.P. Jogdand, ordered an inquiry into the matter. The officials understood checked and verified all the facts and determined that the si had not been molested.
