Pune: Toxic foam on Indrayani a big concern
Trustees of Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Temple Trust and warkari organisations have expressed concern over the poor state of the Indrayani river, ahead of the annual palkhi procession, which is to begin on June 21 from Alandi, some 25km from Pune. Apart from hyacinth covering a sizable portion of the river surface, a thick layer of toxic foam has caused alarm. The river water has also turned dark black. All this is barely days ahead of several warkaris taking a holy dip in the river during palkhi.
