Notify Maha civic polls in a week, can’t allow any delay: SC
Observing that it is a constitutional mandate to hold elections every five years and any delay cannot be brooked, the SC on Wednesday pulled up the Maharashtra SEC for not initiating the poll process for over 2,400 local bodies despite its previous order, and directed it to start the process and issue relevant notification within a week. Polls are due in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Pune among other cities this year.
