Nana Rao swimming pool to be completed in March this yrThe Kanpur Nana Rao Swimming Pool project is delayed by about two months, and is likely to be completed in March this year. Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar visited the pool site in Nana Rao Park Phool Bagh on Friday and observed that 80 percent of the pool had been completed. It was the first international level pool of Kanpur constructed in 1968, and the people of all age groups used to go for swimming practice and had witnessed several state and national events. It is lying close due to improper maintenance and old water filtration plant, following demands of the people of the city. Kanpur Smart City Ltd. has decided to renovate it at the cost of Rs. 1371 crore and develop it as a modern pool. Under the renovation project, the pool will be fully covered and could be used for eight months in a year. The pool’s dimension will be 50 x 18 metre with six lanes which will be as per the Olympic and FIFA norms. It will be equipped with all modern gadgets, roof ventilators will be used to control humidity, and adequate energy efficient lighting arrangements will be made so that the swimmers could enjoy benefits in late hours too.
