Many diesel & petrol vehicles barred by NGT still on roads, some in govt fleet too
Despite a ban on diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years from plying on roads in Delhi-NCR, many of these vehicles still remain in Noida and Ghaziabad. Data from the Ghaziabad regional transport office (RTO) shows that there are 1.17 lakh diesel vehicles and 4.54 lakh petrol vehicles that have breached the age limit. Only a small number of these vehicles have had their registrations cancelled or seized. The RTO has been taking action against these vehicles, but there are still many, including government vehicles, that are still in use.
