Five days after Union home minister Amit Shah asked Maharashtra and Karnataka not to press their claims in the decades-old border dispute till the Supreme Court decides on the matter, tension escalated on both sides on Monday to coincide with the start of the winter session in both state assemblies due to protests in the border districts.
