Kolhapur: 3 held for hunting barking deer
On Wednesday evening, Kolhapur forest department arrested three poachers from Mouje Savardhan village in Radhanagari tehsil of Kolhapur district after they were caught red hand while chopping wild animal barking deer (Bhekar) for meat purpose which they had killed in Radhanagari. All the three accused have been charged under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and further investigation is ongoing. Hunting of wild animals like Barking Deer for consumption has brought the safety of wild animals from Radhanagari wildlife sanctuary into concern.
