KMC takes over Bypass structures from KMDA
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has taken over the maintenance of 37 structures, including bridges, flyovers, culverts, underpasses, and foot overbridges, along the 15.6-km Eastern Metropolitan Bypass. This move ensures that a single agency is responsible for maintaining the entire high-speed corridor. The handover will benefit the New Garia-Kolkata Airport Metro project by reducing the number of agencies involved. However, KMC officials have highlighted the need for expertise, manpower, and tools to effectively maintain these infrastructure assets. Additionally, the KMC will now receive revenues from advertising and displays on these structures.
