₹30 lakh for building Amara Sullia mutiny memorial in BellareThe mangaluru kannada and culture department has sanctioned Rs. 30 lakh for the construction of an amara sullia memorial at banglegudde in bellare in sullia taluk. The memorial will be constructed to commemorate the amara sullia mutiny of 1837 led by freedom fighter Kedambadi Ramayya Gowda. Said Minister of Fisheries Ports and inland water transport S. Angarahe said that an army of farmers led by Gowda had captured the British treasury located at banglegudde in bellare. “The building that housed the British treasury remains at banglegudde as a testimony to the amara sullia mutiny of 1837. People have been demanding that a memorial should be constructed to recall the historical war against the British that began in the region hence the department of Kannada and Culture has sanctioned funds for the proposal.” Angara said on the proposed project the Minister said that a preliminary discussion was held and it has been decided that the old building of the British treasury will be protected while developing the amara sullia memorial. “In addition to various development works walls will be constructed to make the place appear like a fort further discussion is also being held to erect
