DA case: RFO fined ₹1.5crMangaluru is a district in the Indian state of Karnataka. The district has three additional districts- Mangaluru, Shimoga, and Uttara Kannada. The district judge, BB Jakati, sentenced a range forest officer, RFO, to five years of simple imprisonment and slapped a penalty of Rs. 15 crore on him for amassing assets disproportionate to the known source of his income. The court held SRaghava Patali, RFO, guilty in a case registered against him by the Karnataka Lokayukta, Mangaluru. The Lokayukta had registered a case under sections 131e and 132 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in a 295-page verdict. The court said Patali will have to undergo one more year of simple imprisonment if he fails to pay the penalty. The then Dysp Vittal Das Pai had conducted an investigation and submitted a chargesheet in the case in which former police inspector Uday Nayak was the complainant. Special Public Prosecutor for the Lokayukta, Raveendra Munnippady, argued on behalf of the government.stated, "Ca Simon Sp Lokayukta Mangaluru."
