Chimney razed, HDMC notice to landowner The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has asked a landowner to explain why he demolished an old mill chimney without the civic body's permission. A large chimney belonging to the Bharat Mill which made garments was demolished on Wednesdays on Karwar Road. It is the oldest mill chimney in Hubballi. The mill was shut years ago and the building demolished only the chimney had remained. The HDMC on Thursday issued a notice to Ekanthesa Arjunasa Irkal, the owner of the land who lives in Vital Peth in the notice. The HDMC said that it came to know that there was a large chimney that was demolished but no permission was taken for the demolition under the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act of 1976. The HDMC has directed the landowner to submit documents related to the property in seven days.
