Budget: Expectations in North Karnataka soar
The people of Dharwad in north Karnataka are expecting the new Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, to be considerate about the region's demands when presenting the Union Budget on February 1st. Some important demands that the region is hoping the FM will address include upgrading the Karwar Sea Port, releasing funds for the Hubballi-Dharwad railway line, and increasing the number of women entrepreneurs represented on the national board of MSMEs. The Mudra Scheme, which aims to provide loans to businesses without requiring collateral, is currently causing problems for bankers, and the government should look into this issue.
