Belagavi social activist Ram Mahedev, who fought for the welfare of people in the cane farming and textile industries, passed away on Friday. His family decided to donate his body to medical colleges and hospitals through the Dr. Ramannavar Charitable Trust, in accordance with his last wishes. His skin was donated to Kle Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Rotary Skin Bank, both in Mumbai. JNMc Principal Dr. N.S. Mahantshetti, Coordinator Dr. Rajesh Pawar, and Mahantesh Ramannavar, the Trust's Coordinator, thanked the family for this noble gesture. Ram Apte was a trade union leader and a high court lawyer, and he worked tirelessly for the welfare of sugarcane labourers, industry workers, farmers, devadasis, and child labourers for many decades. The Federation of Various Trade Unions has organized a condolence meeting at Marathi Vidyaniketan Ground in the camp area here on December 27.
