7 of a family burnt alive as shanties catch fire in Ludhiana
Seven members of a family of rag-pickers were charred to death on Wednesday early morning when their shanty, located near the main Ludhiana municipal corporation garbage dump at Kakka Road, caught fire. The family members, who were asleep when the fire started, couldn't come out as the main gate was locked. Two people from another shanty were rescued.
