Noida has seen an increase in road accidents this year compared to last year, with 41 more accidents recorded from January to September. The city recorded a total of 852 accidents during this period, resulting in 336 deaths and 610 injuries. The traffic police plan to reduce speed limits on expressways to prevent accidents during the winter months when smog affects visibility. The high number of accidents this year is attributed to speeding, wrong-lane driving, drunk driving, and faulty road designs. Several blackspots in the city have been identified as areas with frequent accidents.
