3 devotees die in Panihati festival crowd surge
At least three devotees were killed and many more injured at Panihati Mahotsavtala Ghat in North 24 Parganas on Sunday morning as thousands tried to enter a temple premises on the occasion of “Dando Mahotsav” — a festival locally known as the chida-dahi mela. The victims have been identified as Subhas Pal (64) and his wife Shukla Pal (60) from East Burdwan’s Purbasthali and Chhaya Das (70) from New Barrackpore.
