27 lakh cases pending in Bengal lower courts
Over 19% of the total 26.6 lakh cases pending in Bengal were lodged in 2021. In the 2019-21 period, another 4.5 lakh cases were filed. Physical court hearings had taken a hit during the pandemic-induced restrictions leading to case pendencies.
